Education Report - January to February 2025 Meeting
Bee Presentation at ECS
Our association's President Angela had the honor of presenting a program on bees to the young students of Evangelical Christian School on Beacon Blvd in Fort Myers. Angela was the speaker and she received a little help from her daughter Eva (one of the students) who demonstrated her bee suit and explained to her fellow students about how bees are fed with entrance feeder. Secretary Jennafer and VP Dennis assisted in set-up including making use of many of the educational items made possible by our grant from Lee County Electric Cooperative (LCEC). We used amplified headset, observation hive with microscope attached, custom tablecloth, table runners. Laptop connected to their large-screen TV and the observation hive microscope displayed the video images of the observation hive on the TV. The bleachers were filled by students and teachers. Everybody was very attentive and participated in questions and answers throughout the presentation.

Education Report - July 2023 Business Meeting
One-hour presentation followed by Q&A and honey tasting at the Grand Cypress Room of the Shell Point Retirement Community. I spoke on bees, beekeeping, products from the hive, pollination, importance of bees, the "save-the-bees" license plate, our local beekeeping association (Beekeepers Association of Southwest Florida) and followed up with question and answers. Virginia and beekeeper friend Jennafer Snyder had a honey tasting table with samples of many varieties of honey from our area and answered a lot of questions regarding honey. And handed out information about bees, our local club, meetings, etc. Thanks to Jennafer for the photos, plus for her and Virginia helping haul all the items up to the speaking room (live bees in observation hive, extractor, and other heavy stuff).
